You may think that my poetry is crap
And that the cutting
Of my phrases
Into a specific form
Makes me look like a fake
You may think that I’m vain
And self-centered
Posting glamour shots of myself
As if I’m desperate for attention
You may think I’ve never read a poem
In my entire life
And wouldn’t recognize good writing
If I saw it
Guess what
I don’t give a shit about what you think
Of me
I am a strong woman
I am beautiful
I am passionate
I am me
And I will write the way I want to write
I will say what I want to say
And how I want to say it
I will post the pictures that I want
You may not like what I write
That’s fine
I do not write for you
I write for my own benefit
I write to share my soul with those who will read
I write to express my feelings
I write for me
❤ Me
Was just prowling the poetry…and I have to say is:
Go, Sister.
Like the Poem, too.
Thank you very much! 🙂
Here, Here!
Thanks! 🙂
I love it! You’re awesome Jenna. Keep on writing. 🙂
Awwww thank you! Nope, I won’t let a little rudeness get me down.
Thanks for the laugh.
shut up… like really, if you have nothing better to do than bitch about someone else’s work, then I pity you… and I doubt you could do any better… btw Jenna, your style kinda reminds me of Ellen Hopkins, who I adore!!!
Its pathetic how badly bloggers take criticism.
I’m not taking your “criticism” badly, nicole.
In all actuality, I’m wondering why you keep visiting if you think my writing is so terrible.
Have a nice day.
And I also keep visiting because I had to show off my own personal rage poem dedication. My Co workers think its hilarious!
Well, that’s wonderful for you. I’m glad you think it’s funny.
I love this! You go sister! Love the Bree picture! Great poem.. Free verse stanzas!
Thank you! Yes, my main style is free verse. 🙂
So I read this again out loud, and it still sounds wonderful. The pauses of the line breaks sound great, the flow just goes so well. Some people just need to learn the difference between rudeness and criticism. Criticism is when you offer solutions for improvement, an insult is when you just tell someone that everything they are doing is bad. It seems to me that this person really doesn’t know what she’s talking about.
Yes! I appreciate you making the distinction for others’ benefit! 😉
Loving it.
That picture of Bree is just awesome here haha. Nice one Jenna and I’m glad you won’t change for that “whoever’s” opinions. Hugs
All writing, including this comment, is truly narcissistic by nature. All criticism is, by nature, even more so.
I agree. In fact, I think everyone has a dose of narcissism in themselves. It’s even a little healthy to think highly of yourself and have confidence.
However there is a difference between writing about myself and believing the blogosphere revolves around me…
Which I know it doesn’t.
I have not approved every single comment that has been written on my blog posts. Yes, I “police” comments to a certain extent. Everyone has the right to voice their opinion, and I also have the right to choose whether or not I want them visible to everyone. I would rather have uplifting and positive comments rather than negative and insulting words.
That’s just what I choose to do.
I’ve been blessed to have never had to reject a comment. I’ve certainly seen comments on other blogs that I would never allow on my own, just out of respect for my readers.
You’re exactly right about the difference. I guess I missed whatever was said… I’ve been very short of time lately, so sorry about that. I’m sure I’m better off not knowing anyway. You just keep writing, Jenna!
Don’t worry about it. The trolls have (hopefully) departed.
